College (Life)

As you might have noticed I haven't been the most active recently in terms of uploads, so if by some miracle there's someone out there who is actually waiting for my next "work of art" then your wait is over! I've finally decided to bother getting back into using this and I've got around to taking and editing some decent photos recently, and by that I mean I've actually had to start doing college work at long last. After half a term of sleeping in until 5 in the afternoon and missing almost every single one of my lectures and seminars it's time to get catching up, and what better way to find out if I've still got it than to get my work torn to pieces on the internet. (:

Right so I should probably start back where I left off all those many months ago, as you might have noticed the last proper photos that I uploaded were pretty much all from my A-Level Photography and Media Studies coursework, so I guess I should let you know how the A's went. I was really proud of some of the work I'd done in both Photography and media, and I was hoping for really good grades in both, maybe even a couple of A*'s, I'd done the Maths (ironically a subject I wasn't looking forward too so much) and it seemed perfectly possible for both. In the end I got an A in Photography and was a mere 4 marks out of 200 away from an A* in my exam module, but I was still really happy with that considering how last-five-days the entire of my sketchbook work was. In Media however thing's didn't go so swimmingly. The reason I was so optimistic was that in the coursework I had received 100% for my AS level and 92% for my A2, understandingly putting me in good spirits, but despite the ridiculous amounts of revision I put in for the exams it turns out I still wasn't any good at exam's and overall just managed to scrape a B. Overall I got ABC which isn't bad, and still much more than the one D I needed to get into a Foundation Degree, which leads me onto my next point.

...is the name of the course I'm doing. As some of you might already know I didn't actually manage to get a place at any of the university's I wanted to go to, so I managed to get a place here, at Truro College through clearing. I was really apprehensive about it all at first to be honest, one of the best things about going away to uni is the student life of partying and going out all the time, something which being at a college as opposed to a "real" uni I get pretty much none of at all. After being here for 7 weeks now though (wow how has it been that long...) it's not all looking so bad. I started off my academic year pretty terribly if I'm honest, missing the majority of my lectures and seminars and doing no work at all, I just had no motivation due to a number of things, that may be the reason I've been so artistically uninclined to do anything at all, and why my dA is currently so empty, but I can safely say now after a bit of a kick-up-the-ass-start I've got back into the swing of things! As a result I'm afraid that nearly all of the work I'll be uploading again will most likely be college work or related in part to what I am doing at college.

As a final note I will skip back a few months and say that I may also at some point get around to uploading a couple of the thousands of photos I took whilst on a trip I took to Tanzania with Camps International over the summer. The trip really was a once in a lifetime experience and I'm sure there must be some good photographs in there somewhere, although from the few brief looks I've had through so far things aren't looking hopeful so don't get your hopes up, we might just end up with one or two alright looking photos, I think the majority probably just hold memories rather than any artistic potential, and I did try to avoid taking my precious anywhere it might have got damaged, meaning a lot of missed photo opportunities.
